Poulet is contemporary bistro that boasts a modern and cosy setting that welcomes any occasion such as romantic first dates, after work, family and friends outings. Restaurant setting also allows you to watch passer-by while eating your food. This restaurant is a casual dining restaurant that offers amazing French rotisserie chicken and variety of appetisers, sides and mouth-watering desserts. Average price for main course is around SG$20 and below SG$30 for steaks. Poulet outlets at Bugis+, Ion Orchard and VivoCity are convenient as MRT is within short walking distance.

It's always crowded during peak hours and dinner time. If you have more than one baby or toddler and baby-stroller, come earlier at off-peak period. Try to avoid weekends too. There are very little space for your baby-stroller. Tables and chairs are so close to each other. Poulet is usually vibrant and noisy. Thus, babies and toddlers might not it. You can't enjoy your meal in peace. My experience in Poulet is always pleasant when babies are not with me.

Smoked Duck Salad

Smoked duck salad is an option if you don't like gamey tasting duck meat. Chopped greens drizzled with citrus fruits, tomatoes and roasted pine nuts provide the tangy counterbalance. The salad was served with French dressing. It is a dish that allows you to opt for a healthier meal. I am not big fan of salad. Thus, I thought that smoked duck salad was ordinary and taste was fine.

Poulet Roti With Mushroom Sauce

We ordered two plates of half chicken with different sauces. Chicken was brined for a full day in a traditional recipe, then placed in the rotisserie for a slow roast until the skin turned to golden brown. They added mushroom chardonnay sauce to create a perfect combination. Chicken skin was quite crispy and I hardly found fat underneath the skin. Meat was tender and fragrant but taste can be slightly plain if I ate without the skin and sauce. I liked the food presentation and sauce was awesome.

Signature Roast Chicken With Diane Sauce

Every mouthful of roast chicken with Diane sauce was succulent. Chicken breast was not dry as one would expect. Food portion was average but less than SG$20 for half a chicken was a good deal to dine in a comfortable setting. I visited Poulet several times at Bugis+ and Raffles City for dinner. Restaurant was full house, vibrant and noisy. However, it didn't bother me. It matters when you have babies or toddlers with you especially during COVID-19, you hope there will be less people sitting close to you. I personally think that Poulet's ambience at VivoCity is better, less crowded and more relaxing.

Braised de Poulet

Instead of signature roast chickens, I tried a full plate of slow-cooked chicken leg. This dish looked appealing. Braised chicken was soaked in generous white wine sauce topped with onion, garlic and potato. Meat was tender and juicier than Poulet roast chicken.

Fried Chicken Wings

Fried chicken wings were crispy, juicy and golden brown. Their crunchy skin was laced with a mild prawn paste flavour and runny-moist flesh on the inside . Paired with cranberry sauce, the combination was perfect. As I dipped the wing into the homemade cranberry sauce and bit into the succulent flesh of the chicken wing, I was addicted to the taste.

Tiramisu

I had a coffee-flavoured dessert at the end of the meal. Poulet's Tiramisu was made of mascarpone cheese, sponge finger soaked in Espresso and rum syrup. Each bite had rich yet airy yellowish cream, a touch of alcohol, and dreamily soft, but not mushy, coffee-flavored sponge finger. It was luscious with just the right bitterness from the coffee and cocoa powder.
