Good Food and Not Crowded - A Baby-friendly Restaurant
Toby's The Dessert Asylum
I speak from my experience; don't bring babies to crowded places. Babies cry. Loud noise and packed crowds definitely cause your babies fussy and unhappy. It will inflict your children in the whole restaurant and ruin your meal. It's akin to torture. Infants and toddlers are also vulnerable to common cold, rotaviral infection and other contagious paediatric diseases in the public places such as shopping malls and eateries. Nevertheless, some parents want a decent meal out and have no family members to help taking care of the babies.
I found Toby's The Dessert Asylum via Google Map. Overall, the reviews were moderate. I was craving for desserts and western food. So, I decided to give a try. The restaurant was quite empty during lunch time partly because public transportations were not accessible to this area. You need to walk further to the nearest bus stops. Most Singapore residents rely on buses and MRT (Mass Rapid Transit) to reach our destinations. The restaurant was half packed on Saturday night but it was not crowded and we were comfortable to enjoy our meals. The staffs were helpful and attentive. The food we ordered was filling and delicious. The restaurant was cosy and air-conditioned. There was a washroom at the back of the restaurant. Although there was no nursing room, I was fine to change diapers on the baby strollers or in my car. The open carpark was a few steps away from this restaurant.
Tiramisu cake is my all-time favourite flavour. I ordered Cuppa Misu without second thought. It was fruity sweet with strong flavour of coffee and a little bit of alcohol taste. They added kahlua, which is a coffee-flavoured liqueur. They made small round balls covered with generous cocoa powder in a cup. Those were really cute to me. When I scooped the tiny balls out, it revealed creamy sponge cake.

Arctic bombshell portion was quite big, enough for two persons. There were a lot of vanilla ice cream sandwiched between chocolate cake. We almost couldn't finish eating this cake. The taste was decent. It looked artistic. They managed to turn desserts into a unique artwork.

The staffs won't pressure you for the next reservation. You can sit there as long as you want. I encountered annoying experiences from other restaurants. When we finished a plate, it was taken away quickly and replaced with the next course. They put the bill on the table.
Overall, we spent 1.5 hours here eating our wonderful meals without rushing, chatting, feeding our babies with snacks and milk. Food price was reasonable. The main courses and drink were fairly delicious and satisfying. The looks of all the food partially constituted a great part of my pleasure of eating. If you have a sweet tooth, this is the right place!
