nomVnom Bistro, Vegan Fast Food at Clarke Quay Central

This was first time we came here and our last dine out before circuit breaker kicked in two days later. nomVnom Bistro was quiet because the Korean restaurant next to it was close due to COVID-19 outbreak. We loved the great view, nice and comfortable ambience. I had a wonderful lunch with my family while looking over Singapore River and Clarke Quay historic shophouses. Staffs were polite, friendly and smiled all the way. There are wide variety of food available - burgers, pizza, pasta, salad, ice-cream and cakes. Their selection of vegan burgers are amazing. They also have udon noodle soup, rendang rice and delicious side dishes.

nomVnom Bistro is a baby friendly and stroller friendly restaurant in Singapore. Nevertheless, washroom is not few steps away. I followed the washroom signboard and took 5 minutes to reach there. Staffs appeared nice and friendly to our babies. The waitress directed us to a table for four at one corner with best view. There was enough space for my baby-stroller. My older baby was sitting on a baby high chair while enjoying the beautiful scenery on Saturday noon.

Lion Sky Tower $16.90

At the moment Lion Sky Tower burger arrived, it looked fantastic and the smell was great. To someone who grew u with meat, Lion Sky Tower burger was flavourful. One more stack of patty and burger were added. This burger looked tall. There were double lion's mane mushroom patties, black pepper truffle mayo, sautéed white button, mushroom, green and red coral, rocket leaves, tomatoes. Patties were free from dairy, eggs, onions, garlic and alcohol. You may order combo meals and save $2. The combo meals include a main, 1 side and 1 drink or 1 main and 2 sides.

Bonsai $12.90

Bonsai was the most beautiful vegan burger I had ever seen. I admired its delicacy before I took my first bite. It was made of crunchy soya patty, gore ball, golden ring, chewy mushroom patty, tartar sauce, rocket leaves, green coral lettuce, red coral lettuce, blue pea flower, pineapple and tomatoes. It took two sticks to assemble all ingredients into one bonsai burger. Gore ball was a fried mushroom with batter and golden ring's texture was similar to chicken nugget. Patty was made of soy, potatoes, mixed vegetables and mushrooms. Vegetables were crunchy and fresh. Burger was juicy and savoury but all fried items were not greasy at all.

Mixed Sweet Potato Fries $5.90

To complete my meal, I chose a mixture of purple- and orange-fleshed sweet potato fries for my side dish. I liked it when the purple skins were still intact, so I can eat the most natural sweet potato taste. They scraped the fresh sweet potatoes and fried it. Sweet potato fries were crispy outside. They were fluffy, sweet and soft inside. I might come again to try their luxurious truffle fries dipped into truffle mayo ($5.90) or yam fries with date dip ($6.50) because they looked great and highly recommended. Other popular side dishes included banana fritters ($4.90), sugarcane drumsticks ($5.90) and burdock spring rolls ($5.90).

Toon Rendang Rice $8.90

Looking at the food menu, Toon Rendang Rice looked like our local nasi lemak for vegetarian. The look attracted me to order this dish. A thoughtful presentation meal led to a more enjoyable meal. Rendang Rice contained tasty rendang curry, fresh green leaves, Jaanese cucumber, tomatoes, crispy mushroom, lettuce and Japanese white rice. White rice was fragrant but there were other option for brown rice. Rendang curry's spicy level was moderate and rich with coconut milk. I was luxuriating in the mixture of rendang curry, mock meat and white rice while enjoying a great view with great companionship with my family. Mock anchovies were made of mushroom stalks. It was very crispy and delicious. It would be great if I could find mock anchovies for my snacks.

Chickpea Coffee Ice Cream ($4.90)

Chickpea coffee ice cream was decaffeinated and free from dairy products. It contained chickpea. Taste was slightly weird and different from coffee ice cream that I used to eat. nomVnom is not the right place to indulge yourself with sweet desserts.

Vegan Snacks

I accidentally found vegan snacks in nomVnom Bistro. I had a quick look at the snacks' ingredients and seemed to be very healthy. Most of them are nuts, dried fruits, rice crackers, sesame and cookies, which are made of plant-based substitutes. All are great snack food for vegetarians.
