Reichan is one of the most popular restaurants for okonomiyaki in Hiroshima. Reichan is conveniently located on second floor of Hiroshima Station building, Minami Ward, Matsubaracho, 1−2 広島駅 Shinkansen Exit 1F. It opens from 11am to 10pm. English food menu is available. They accept credit cards such as MasterCard, AMEX and Visa.

Queue was long but it was entertaining to watch the cooks preparing okonomiyaki and yakisoba. There are counter high chairs placed in front of the hot plate where they cook and classic dining tables that each table is fit for two to four persons.

Reichan restaurant is neither baby-friendly not stroller-friendly as space is very limited. Tables and chairs are very close to each other unless you are the first few diners of the day when the restaurant is quite empty. Most babies will feel afraid of sitting near many strangers.

Okonomiyaki From Reichan

Okonomiyaki (800 to 1200 yen per plate) is a pancake with a lot of cabbage, topped with egg, meat and variety of seafood. Most common meat fillings are prawn, squid and pork. There is a coating of dark sweet sour sauce. Taste was extremely good and irresistible. Squid and prawn were tender and fresh. Outer layer of okonomiyaki was savoury, sweet and crispy. They also serve okonomiyaki with mozzarella cheese, spicy kimchi and deep-fried squid.

Seafood Yakisoba From Reichan

Yakisoba is a classic Japanese stir-fry noodles that literally translates to grilled (yaki) noodles (soba). Both Chinese and Japanese noodle dishes feature stir fried noodles, however, Japanese adds sweet sour sauce that they normally use for okonomiyaki. Chinese chow mein uses wheat noodles that are often fried crisp or nearly crisp before being mixed with the stir fried vegetables.

Stir fried noodles is my all-time favourite dish. Reichan's Yakisoba was very delectable, topped with generous prawns, squid and pork. Prawn and squid sizes were moderate. Sliced pork was flavourful and delish. The sweet sour sauce enhanced the taste of all ingredients. I was addicted to their yakisoba at first bite.

Cheese And Pork Yakisoba From Reichan

It's hard to resist Japanese sauteed noodles when I heard the sizzling sound from the delicious tangy sauce poured over noodles on their hot plate. Mozzarella cheese melted in the hot yakisoba, then intertwined with the sliced pork, fried egg and yakisoba. Noodles were savoury, cheesy and slightly sweet. More hearty noodles meant more cheese in every bite. Cheesy noodles texture was a bit creamy and smooth. Cheesy yakisoba was absolutely delicious.

Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park

When you are eating okonomiyaki or yakisoba at Reichan, Hiroshima Station, Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum is one of the must-visit sites. It's a museum where you can learn anything about the incident of atomic bomb at Hiroshima City.

Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park

This is a beautiful park with a very sad history, where they create a place with a meaningful and strong positive message, for instance, say 'no' to nuclear war, from one of the darkest events in modern history.

Take your time and walk around the beautiful memorial park to view the monuments. Hiroshima Peace Memorial Park is also a great place for a morning run. If you have missed my post about Hiroshima Peace Memorial Museum, go to this link for more pictures and thorough review.
