Ginza Tendon Itsuki is located along heritage shophouses in Tanjong Pagar, Singapore. It is Ramen Keisuke's eighth new concept outlet. This outlet is the popular ramen chain’s first concept in collaboration with renowed Ginza Itsuki Sushi restaurant in Tokyo, Japan. Itsuki is the fifth outlet to join neighbouring Ramen Keisuke outlets to form Keisuki's new Japanese soul food district in Tanjong Pagar.

This outlet has 24 seats with 3 classic dining tables and the remaining ones are counter seats. Two dining tables are facing the cashier table near the entrance and third table is at the end of the restaurant. Walkway is too narrow for baby-stroller and wheelchair. The shophouse of this restaurant has a narrow frontage about five feet with a sheltered corridor at the front for pedestrians. There are two flight of steps. This restaurant is neither baby-friendly nor stroller friendly. The restaurant is usually crowded and diners sit close to each other due to limited space. However, Ginza Tendo Itsuki restaurant is suitable for older children, family outings, work lunch, after-work dinner and dates. The heritage shophouses look beautiful at night.

Takeaway Tendon

In their food menu, they only have two dishes; special tendon (meat) and vegetable tendon. In special tendon bowl, there are two pieces of prawns, two pieces of chickens, one half-boiled egg and four pieces of vegetables. Tendon comes with miso soup and steamed egg. I am a big fan of seafood and assorted vegetables tendon. During COVID-19 locked down, I ordered assorted vegetables tendon for dinner. I called to make an order and picked it up at the restaurant. Tendon, miso soup, pickles and steamed egg were packed in separate containers. They put all containers, wooden chopsticks and tissue in a big paper carrier.

Vegetable Tempura

I like the colourful vegetable tempura on rice. All vegetables were placed nicely on fragrant Japanese rice in a biodegradable box. There were capsicums, long beans, lotus root, shiitake mushroom, sweet potato, eggplant and pumpkin. Rice and tendon were delicious and satisfying. Batter was light. Most of the tendon were quite crispy as I only ate 25 minutes later. I took 25 minutes to drive back home from the restaurant. Pumpkin and capsicum tempura's outer layer were slightly soggy and tore off. Tendon should be served immediately but you have no choice if you are a parent of two babies or more, thus can't dine in.

Steamed Egg

Steamed egg was soft and savoury. The plastic bowl looks beautiful like a special porcelain bowl. If you dine in, the fresh ingredients are served in a porcelain bowl by Arita, a 400-year-old porcelain brand from Japan.

Pickles And Miso Soup

Miso soup didn't spill. Pickles and soup looked good in the plastic container. Pickles were tasty but miso soup was salty. Overall, Ginza Tendon Itsuki is one of my favourite place for tempura. Tendon is amazing and affordable. Food portion is moderate. Space is limited during peak hours. So, expect a queue or take away.
